Mountain Lover has all the qualities for a native plant woodland garden. The leaves are very glossy, dark green and resemble boxwood. The flowers are very tiny and deep pink. The seeds are likewise very small. It has a low, mounding-spreading form that has its place under Gambel Oak, Big Tooth Maples, Mountain Mahogany and Chokecherry to name a few native shrubs. It spreads slowly by underground stems and creates a ground cover beyond compare. It requires very little maintenance and low water when established.
